Based in the United Arab Emirates, Iris was founded in mid-2020 by a group of friends and ex-colleagues. The global pandemic that surged that year brought unprecedented change to every corner of the world. A new work-from-home and online schooling standard was implemented, causing a sharp increase in everyone’s daily screen time and their exposure to harmful blue light emissions. This problem continues to affect millions of people all across the world on a daily basis.
As workaholics and tech lovers who are often sitting in front of screens, we realised our eyes were being exposed to harmful blue light for many hours every day. We wanted a solution to protect our eyes and improve our lifestyle. After extensive research, we discovered that the current products on the market were ineffective, expensive and of low quality, so we decided to come up with our own solution – Iris!
HOW WE STARTED
We worked long and hard to create the glasses of our dreams, but before launching, we decided to test it out on two crowdfunding platforms: Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
Thanks to the amazing support of all the people that believed in us and backed our crowdfunding campaigns, we’ve sold over 15,000 glasses in 81 countries, and now we’re selling our products worldwide.

Passion for life
We go hand with multicultural aspects, sharing moments, positivity and outdoor activities.
To understand the world and its differences, a constant state of learning and curiosity is welcome.
To be conscious of ourselves and the enviroment, we have to be respecful of every interaction we have with everything that surrounds us.
Pride in ownership
We all enjoy our freedom with co-responsibility and ownership of our duties.
The way we live, work, play, and communicate is changing every single day with the rapid advance of technology, and this is why we want to be more than just a tech gadget company. We want to build a brand and a community that supports the constantly evolving lifestyles of the digital generation, and makes them feel understood and accepted.
We believe that all companies should be more than just a company; they should have a soul, too. This means that they not only focus on doing right by their consumers and developing great products, but that they hold their values close, stand up for what they believe in, and give back to the community.
We strive to be a company with soul every single day; we aim to help people live lives that are as vibrant and fun as they are functional, and we dream of building a world where technology and sustainability go hand in hand.
At Barner, we offer products that enhance and improve your digital life.
We develop each one of our products with the highest standards of quality. Our focus on innovation, design, and comfort gives our glasses the functionality and style that you need in the digital age.
We love what we do, and we love building products for you.
At Barner we deeply believe that every company should be giving back to society. Why? Because if every single company did that, we would live in a much better world. For this reason we’ve decided to join the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
THE GOOD LIFE IS WELCOME
Barner is named after Barcelona, or “Barna”, to the locals.
“Barners” is our way of referring to all the people that, in one way or another, are connected to Barcelona. Not because they live there, but because they live the Barcelona lifestyle wherever they are.
A Barner is someone who is full of positivity, energy, and an appreciation of the beautiful world around them; someone who lives the good life.
Are you ready to become one?
Edu & Ray met back in 2014 in Bali, where they randomly ended up staying together on the floor of a mutual friend’s house. After the trip they each went their own way- Edu in Ireland and Singapore working for Google and Samsung, and Ray in Japan and Colombia working for Accenture.
A few years, their paths crossed again, and they realized that despite their different backgrounds, they have the same entrepreneurial spirit. This spirit was inspired by the city of Barcelona, where they returned after many years living abroad.
After hours and hours spent behind their computer screens, Edu & Ray realized there was something they could do about it, and so, Barner was born.
